The Bands....for reals this time...
Hey everyone. With just under a month to go, this year's show is shaping up to be amazing. And super-long. So, with so many bands happening we need to get slightly more organized than in previous years. So, please sign up for your band in THIS THREAD and THIS THREAD ONLY. Also, we are going to set a cut-off date for sign ups, so let's say get your band in by Friday, March 8th 2013 11:59am PST. If you can't get it together by then, I don't know what you're doing.
The Halloween show is closely curated show, so please follow the rules. They are:
- No more than 2 members from an existing band in any Halloween band
-
Our equipment manager will be providing a back line (drums, Al's bass
amp, guitar amps and mics, possibly key board.) You MUST use it.
- It costs $5 for everyone to get in. This is the year Matt Maxwell pays. Check his hand for a stamp people!
- Clean up after yourselves
- Bring your own and keep it inside.
- Park on 21st street
Blondie is solid and totally happening.
ReplyDeleteBoston is more than a feeling!
ReplyDeleteCharles Albright
I could have sworn you guys already did Boston
ReplyDeletethey do boston every year. its like a little inside joke.
DeleteWe did journey and talked about doing chicago.
DeleteAnd we did Toto
Deleteyep, like i said, they do boston every year.
DeleteWham is definitely on.
ReplyDeleteBeyonce is definitely on.
ReplyDeleteCAN is a go.
ReplyDeleteNot doing Squeeze.
ReplyDeleteABBA is in it to win it.
ReplyDeleteEquipment question, if more equipment is needed than the backline contains should we discuss with Charles what exactly to bring? That way we can get in and out as quickly as possible.
Natalie.
Yes Charles is your Equipment Manager, just tell him what you need and let him do the math. We will probably have a equipt thread in a few weeks.
DeleteWhat more do you need amp wise. It might be best to just have enough ahead of time.
DeleteRancid IN, Badfinger IN
ReplyDeleteX is on!
ReplyDeleteFaces not happening.
ReplyDeleteBeck is happening
ReplyDeleteThis comment has been removed by the author.
ReplyDeleteWire is on.
ReplyDeletei probably dont need to say that gwar is happenning whether you like it or not.

ReplyDeleteHistorians have already begun writing about when Nirvana played the Halloween 2013 show. It's happening.
ReplyDeletePavement is happening. Outkast is not.
ReplyDeleteSorry Becky, I have to wear the afro wig for Beyonce.
Ugh, that wig! Back again!
ReplyDeleteI am so psyched about Drake. I hope Nic wears a yarmulke.
Nobody ever says anything about the show pics. I have more I could post but not if they're besides the point.
more pics! more pics! more pics!
ReplyDeleteRaffi and Nilsson are ready to slowly rock your world.
ReplyDeleteBUSH is out (Gabba Rossdale still lives though).
ReplyDeleteDANZIG is totally on.
Kiss is happening.
ReplyDeleteSulli
If there is still room for one more band, I would like to claim a slot for Whitehouse
ReplyDeleteAerosmith is still happening unfortunately.
ReplyDeleteSuperdrag is heavy and solid.
ReplyDeletePixies are in.
ReplyDeleteL boogie up in here.
ReplyDelete(Fugees still happening)
I count 29 bands between this list, other threads and things I have heard in person. That's about twice as many as can play.
ReplyDeleteI guess it will just have to turn into a fest.
Deletethe show starts at noon!
DeleteIt would only be appropriate to have Raffi play at 9am.
ReplyDeleteBlur and Gorillaz have been set free
ReplyDeletePerhaps every band should trim their set down? There should be a real strictness about how many songs or the amount of time each band can play
ReplyDeletelimited to 1 hour sets!
Deleteif there are 30 bands, and each band has a 10 minute window, thats still about 5 hours.
maybe more will drop out/flake as the month goes on
Yipes. Split it over two days? The cutoff has occurred right, so at least we can lock it down here.
ReplyDeleteLocked down!!!
ReplyDeleteif its 30 bands, 12 minute sets gets us out by midnight.
And yes I know thats impossible.
Can we get soul collective earlier than six?
-Natalie.
obviously late, but cutting short my brit pop life (blur)in order to pursue my rap career. Sorry if anyone wanted to see blur, unfortunately only amanda and leon wanted to play it.
ReplyDeleteI hope that no one takes this the wrong way, because I say it with love, but I have decided for my sanity that I am doing no more and no less than I have in the past. We have Sol Collective from 6pm - 1am on April 6th. If you want to try to get it earlier, I can give you a number. If you want to do a second day, I will show up and rock out and love it, but what I am doing is 7 hours at the Sol Collective on April 6th. Not everyone can play at that show and I am sorry about that.
ReplyDeleteGbomb
To lessen the bummer-ness of above, we are considering a two stage approach and if y'all would cut a few minutes or a song from your set, we can probably do many more than 18 bands, if we are efficient enough it will still be the best 7 hours of the year.
DeleteThis is a great idea. Maybe have a max set time (15 minutes?). In years past I thought there were given 'limits' but I haven't seen any for this year.
DeleteBread and Chicago are out
ReplyDeleteTwo Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!Two Stages!
ReplyDeleteI like that idea.
A 15 minute max is a good idea too:)
I would like to suggest that if multiple members of your band are in multiple other bands, start considering what band is more important to you. The best rule last year was "no more than two bands per person". I realize that people break the rules inevitably but it does encourage people to think about what they really want to do. So if your vision for "Nirvana*" can be saved for next year, then wait it out.
ReplyDelete*Nirvana is playing this year no matter what.
I'm offering $1,000 to any band that drops out. Offer ends at midnight.
ReplyDeleteRancid has opted to beat up people in the parking lot, so count us out...
ReplyDeleteNo parking lot, but there is a well placed cemetery across the street.
DeleteMaybe we should have to audition for Guphy to get into the show.
ReplyDeleteVery wise, Young Maxwell!
ReplyDeleteHalloween is such a stressful time. Can we compile a new list of all the bands?
ReplyDeletehi this is liz and we have been practicing and I just checked back to find out when the actual show date is and see this post. I hope its not too late for us to do Bauhaus as we are already ready to play. Oh and Woodhouse is in our band so I hear that is supposed to help our chances of being included in this incredible event. Thank god I ran into Matt and Karlos and Sonia last night, otherwise I would have felt really left out or something?
ReplyDeleteHi. So, I'm gonna drop Raffi. I mean, Raffi can do some of the hosting duties if there are multiple hosts. Also, he would bring snacks. But no Raffi set. Too many bands!
ReplyDelete-Dylan
Also, two stages! Twooooooo stages!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, the back line keyboard will be my keyboard, right? It can be. It should be.
-Dylan
I hope we can have two stages so hard. That would be sweet! If that works out can someone manage one of the stages? Charles should only have to do one and y'all are talented musicians so it seems like someone can help out.
ReplyDeleteThanks!

ReplyDeleteAs it appears this festival is currently run by the masses, Beyonce and KISS are looking into other venues with a better backstage rider and premium sponsorship. Our managers are currently attempting to get in touch with a "Mr. Andreoni" about booking Club Vince.
ReplyDeleteDon't worry, until Club Vince comes through we're still down to do this charity work.
~Queen Bey and Space Ace
OK all you bands, I think something that would be good would be timing your sets and getting a rough estimate of how long you're playing. 15 minutes seems to have been the standard for a while (except for the Grateful Dead who graciously played for an hour) but if you played, say, 12 minutes instead, that would be a cumulative hour and a half total saved with the amount of bands we have. At any rate, PLEASE don't go over 15 minutes (Can, I'm looking at you!). Let's make this thing work!
ReplyDeleteThe Can plan is actually pretty conservative time-wise so far. But who knows what epic indulgence could transpire once in The Zone.
